Fatal Blow For Obamacare?

A federal appeals court delivered a serious blow to President Barack Obama's health care law Tuesday, potentially denying billions of dollars in subsidies for many low and middle-income people who bought policies. Without these subsidies, it is unlikely these people can pay their Obamacare premiums each month.  Before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit, a group of small business owners argued that the law authorizes subsidies only for people who buy insurance through markets established by the states and not by the federal government.  

Obamacare Follies - Part V

I was hesitant to call this story "Obamacare Follies" for the simple fact it makes it appear light-hearted and/or funny.  There is nothing funny about the following story.  Pastor Angran was diagnosed with stage three cancer of the esophagus. He had insurance, but because of a previous heart condition, it did not cover the treatments he needed for his cancer. He found this out just minutes before receiving life-saving chemo.  A worker came in to talk to the pastor.  He was informed that under Obamacare he is not covered for lifesaving chemo treatments.  As a result, the Angrans have emptied their savings account and now are $50K in debt thanks in no small part to Obamacare.  The Angrans can't even afford to pay the premiums which are over $800 a month and with less coverage than their former insurance plan.  Pastor Angran said there is, "no compassion in the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare)."  No word from Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid on whether he thinks Pastor Angran is lying or not.

Obamacare Follies - Part IV

Once again, President Obama is amending and changing law.  At one time (and according to the U.S. Constitution) U.S. Congress made and amended laws.  No more.  President, or rather should I say, King Obama has decreed employers with 50 to 99 full-time workers won't have to comply with the law's requirement to provide insurance or pay a fee until 2016.  So, once again, Obama is delaying the health insurance mandate set forth as law by Congress and signed by the King himself.  This is, in effect, staying the insurance requirements due to the disastrous roll-out of Obamacare.  It's also in response to the Congressional Budget Office devastating news that nearly 2.5 million jobs could be lost due to Obamacare over the next ten years.  The Obama administration is still reeling from that report.

Obamacare Follies - Part III

The demographics are all wrong.  Despite the White House heralding  news that 2.2 million people have signed up through state and federal health care exchanges, less than a quarter of people who have enrolled are between the ages of 18 and 34.  It is this age group that the Obama Administration has pinned its hopes on to make Obamacare work. 

Obama vs the Schoolteacher

A Texas schoolteacher, Thomas J. Ritter, wrote a letter highly critical of President Obama's health care initiative, the Affordable Health Care Act aka Obamacare.  The fifth grade teacher in Texas told President Obama, "This bill has caused such a divisive, dirisive [sic], and toxic environment … The reality is that any citizen that disagrees with your ­administration is targeted and ridiculed. I hesitated to write for fear of some kind of retribution. I watched you make fun of tea baggers and your press secretary make fun of Ms. Palin which was especially beneath the dignity of the White House.”  Amazingly, President Obama not only responded, he replied in his own handwriting to Mr. Ritter.

Obamacare Follies - Part II

News Item:  Almost 80 million with employer healthcare plans could be canceled.

Heretofore, it had been individual health insurance plans that were susceptible to the tentacles of Obamacare.  As many as 5 million have lost their individual health insurance plans since Obamacare was rolled out.  But, now, employer and group health insurance plans are in the cross-hairs of Obamacare.   Stan Veuger of the American Enterprise Institute said that in addition to the individual cancellations, "at least half the people on employer plans would by 2014 start losing plans as well."

Obamacare Follies - Part I

Another week, another hilarious direction of failure for the Obama lovechild, Obamacare.  There is so much news about the failure(s) of Obamacare until I am almost immune to any bad news about this monstrosity.  "Almost" is the keyword here. The failure of the website is a story of and in itself. (I won't even go over the millions of individual healthcare policies cancelled or outright Obama lies on keeping your health plan) How can anyone, even the federal government, not be able to have a working website after you've had over three years to get it ready?  A kid in high school, with just a modicum of website design ability, should be able to at least get a working website up and running.

The howling and outcry over the outright lies of President Obama are just starting.  He stated many, many times "If you like your plan, you can keep it" in regard to Obamacare.  The first time he said this I thought, "How the hell is he going to pay for Obamacare if everyone doesn't opt in?"  The fact of the matter is that the Obama Administration KNEW that people would get millions upon millions of cancellation notices on their individual polices of medical insurance.  They knew it!!!  They knew people would get cancellation letters, higher premiums and less choice. Obviously, Obama and his cronies did not care. At all.

Obamacare Disaster

That's about the only way I can put it...Obamacare is a disaster.  Obamacare is a disaster of such epic proportions that not even the most severe critics were prepared for what has happened since the roll-out of President Obama's lovechild this month.  Premiums in California, the state that gives illegal aliens more rights than the native born citizens, have medical insurance rates that have skyrocketed by over 200%.  Remember Obama saying if you like your medical insurance, you can keep it?  Well, as we all know now, that was a damn lie.  Employers are either cutting back hours to avoid Obamacare or they are just outright laying people off. 

House Defunds Obamacare

As everyone must know by now, the House sent a bill to the Senate authorizing funding until December 15.  Of course, the Senate must decide if they will strip out the provisions in the bill that defund the Democrats pride and joy, Obamacare.  The House Republicans will then have to decide if they will accept the bill at that point.  As it stands now, all government funding will run out on September 30th.  Unless some kind of compromise is reached, the government supposedly will shutdown on October 1.  All in all, it points to another showdown between Democrats and Republicans over the most controversial legislation since Social Security payments were first made.

Pravda: Obama is a Communist

You know that old saying?  If it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck, looks like a duck, chances are it must be a duck.  That is what I tell people when I describe The Anointed One as a Socialist.  He surrounds himself with hardcore Socialists, he believes in the Communist Manifesto, he believes in redistribution of wealth.  So, chances are, President Obama is a Socialist.  The only thing I don't understand is why doesn't he just come out and admit it.  Well, the one newspaper that would know a Socialist/Communist is the Russian newspaper, Pravda.    In their newspaper of November 19, 2012, they state categorically, "Recently, Obama has been reelected for a 2nd term by an illiterate society and he is ready to continue his lies of less taxes while he raises them."  Ouch.  That must hurt the Obama Zombies to the bone.  In fact, many Republicans have said the same for several years.  Obama does raise taxes, such as Obamacare.  It is a tax.  He has raided Medicare of over $700 billion, the first U.S. President to do so.  Nothing is said by the Pravda of America, otherwise known as CBS, ABC, NBC, New York Times and on and on. 

Pravda goes on to state (and this one must really hurt the Progressives in both the Democratic and Republican Parties), "The communists won in America with Obama, but failed miserably in Russia with Zyuganov who only received 17% of the vote."  Double ouch.  Pravda also brings forth something myself and many Conservatives believe, "...liberalism is a psychosis."  It is indeed a mental disorder.  The idea of taking from those who "make" and give to those who "take" is an idea as old and dead as Vladimar Lenin     Socialism is a failed economic model that has laid waste to lives and countries throughout the centuries.  Again, no one knows this better than those who suffered at the hands of Socialist elitists, the  people in Russia.  Spreading wealth is an age old concept that sounds good on the surface.  But, it fails miserably when put into practice.  Socialism stifles ingenuity, entrepreneurship,  and the daily lives of people.  It is a failure.  But, the communists/socialists/liberals of America want to give it a try.  Obamacare will prove right away it is a grotesque failure.  Will that stop the Obama Zombies?  Nope.  Meanwhile, 23 million Americans don't have a job.  Inflation is rising.  The economy is in shambles.  But, the Communists in America have their foot in the door.  They will not stop until they open that door all the way.  Consequences be damned.

Justice Roberts Caves in to Obama

It's not really news now. But, as it stands at this moment, Obamacare is officially considered constitutional by the SCOTUS. There was simply no way I could see the individual mandate standing as constitutional. All the arguments the Leftists have made were made moot when the SCOTUS declared that the mandate did not apply to the Commerce Clause of which Obamacare hinged on for the past three years. Instead, the SCOTUS declared that the mandate of Obamacare was a tax levied upon the citizens of this nation. That was declared constitutional, apparently. It appears the federal government can levy any type of tax they wish with this ruling. Of course the Obama Zombies are quickly saying this is not a tax, but a fine. Sure, but that flies directly into the face of the SCOTUS ruling on the Commerce Clause. The Leftists want it both ways. They want to say the fine is constitutional although that wasn't the ruling handed down by the SCOTUS.

It's really a sad day for freedom in this nation. The Leftists are rejoicing in this government overreach of its power. You have to look over their mindless babbling on anything. The more Socialism they can get, the better they like it. None of this would have took place without President Obama (and Leftists in general) bullying Justice John Roberts on this issue as well as the corporate campaign issue in his state of the nation address a couple of years back. There is great disgust among conservatives with Chief Justice Roberts. It appears Chief Justice Roberts changed his mind at the last moment according to some reports. Regardless, the fight over Obamacare will continue. States are saying they will not implement Obamacare. Lawsuits will continue to be filed. Of course, the final say will come to the voters in November of this year.

Is Obama Losing His Mind?

The hint I had about what an amateur we had as a President came when the Cambridge Police arresting an old friend of President Obama's.  The President's "...police acted stupidly" comment would be quoted over and over again in the weeks and months afterward.  I thought, this guy is not only amateurish, but he's lacking in intelligence.  For example, this week we have heard oral arguments on Obamacare.  This health care intiative by President Obama is the centerpiece of his administration.  But, the U.S. Supreme Court is on the verge of declaring the entire package as unconstitutional.  How is it that a constitutional law professor didn't know his pride and joy could possibly be unconstitutional?  How about he didn't care if it was constitutional or not?  President Obama has only one thought process.  That being, his way or no way.  Only he can be right.  Everyone else is either wrong or just plain stupid.  He is the most conceited President we have ever had. That brings me to my next point.

The President's "open mic" moment with Russian President Dmitry Medvedev is something that puzzles even the most ardent Obama supporter.  Why couldn't he have waited to tell Medvedev that he wanted to wait until after the election so he could have more "flexibility" in dealing with the missile defense system that scares Russia so much?  The first question that pops into one's head; did Obama mean he was going to give Russia what they wanted and to hell with the safety of the United States?  Probably not.  Or possibly he did.  No one knows.  But, it was a strange moment.  It was a moment that one almost would be inclined to believe was done on purpose.  For what reason, no one knows.  No one knows why he stated that Travon Martin would look just like a son Obama would have if Obama had a son.  What exactly was that suppose to infer?  Why would President Obama, once again, get involved with a local incident that now shows the potential of spiraling out of control?  It borders on being totally weird. And why take on the Catholic church over contraceptives back in January?  It is sheer lunacy.

I hate to think what a second term of President Obama would bring.  President Obama appears to be letting the job drive him insane.  Not insane in the sense that the pressure is getting too much for him.  I say he is becoming insane with power and all it encompasses.  This President does not see himself as just the head of the executive branch of government.  In Obama's mind, he is the government.  There is no Legislative branch, there is no Judicial branch.  There is only President Barack Obama.  His "open mic" moment is an indication of just this fact.

Sandra Fluke - A Liberal Proxy

Remember a couple of months back during one of those seemingly endless debates when George  Stephanopoulos asked Mitt Romney a question about banning contraceptives for women?  Most people thought that was a very strange question at the time.  This is especially true since the debate had centered mostly on the economy.  This question just came out of the blue from George Stephanopoulos.  Or so we thought at the time.  Everyone realizes that Georgie is a hitman for the Democratic Party.  That is just one example of the bias Republicans must contend with during a campaign for President.  It is becoming increasingly apparent that was a precursor of an elaborate Democratic strategy to offset the potential of a brouhaha with the Catholic church over mandatory payment of contraceptives for women.   The Obama Administration and the DNC were planning for this potential fight with the Catholic church.  The strategy was to make it appear that Republicans do not want women to have contraceptives.  It is an attempt to make it appear that Republicans want to ban contraceptives.  Period.  What the Democrats did not expect is the ferocity of this ongoing fight with the Catholic church and others who support them.  This was a serious miscalculation by the Democrats.  They had to do something and do it quickly.

Enter Sandra Fluke, a 30 year old law student (just how long has she been going to school?) at Georgetown.  She suddenly has become the point woman for the Democratic Party in its battle with the Catholic church on the issue of free contraceptives for women.  Sandra Fluke says she needs $3,000 a year to pay for contraceptives. Just how much sex is this homely looking 30 year old law student having? $3K a year for contraceptives?  That is preposterous.  No one is going to believe that.  Well, except if you are a Leftist who will accept anything as long as the taxpayers are footing the bill.  Something else I found puzzling;  who is footing the bill for all these trips (eight at last count) this Georgetown law student is taking to appear on national TV?  Seems I have found an answer.  Reports are that Sandra Fluke is being represented by the PR agency SKDKnickerbocker.  Guess who is the managing editor for this firm?  The infamous Anita Dunn, the former White House Communications Director.  Something that makes you go hmmmmm.  There can be no doubt now.  This is all a contrived and orchestrated event by liberals to have a proxy, in Sandra Fluke, to do their  bidding on an issue that is hurting President Obama.  This is a self-inflicted wound by the Democrats.  As always, they overreach.  They certainly did in this case. But, it is patently obvious this is not about contraceptives for women.  This is a freedom of religion issue.  The Democrats are in serious trouble now.

You won't see the MSM report anything about Anita Dunn being the force behind Sandra Fluke.  They are "all in" for President Obama and the Democratic Party.  But, it does show to what depths the Democrats will go to protect Obama.  This issue will not go away.  The Catholic church is going to see to that.  How does President Obama and the Democratic Party get out of a mess they created themselves?  I have no idea.  But, I do know that the longer this contraceptive issue lingers (and the questions about Sandra Fluke's biased involvement), the more it will hurt the Democratic Party as we march toward the 2012 elections.

Ben Nelson Retires

There were many agonizing moments for Democrats when it came to passage of Obamacare.  There was a core of about 4 or 5 senators who were on the fence.  About 20-25 House Democrats straddling the fence also.  All of them eventually caved for one reason or another.  Most were threatened, intimidated or politically bribed as was Senator Ben Nelson of Nebraska.  Known now as the "Cornhusker Kickback," it essentially was that the federal government would fund Nebraska's new Medicaid recipients forever. As you may remember, this was not popular with the GOP or even in the state of Nebraska. Nebraskans were outraged with Senator Ben Nelson for taking a political bribe, even though it granted favors to their state, to secure his vote.  It was just systematic of the Obama Administration in securing Obamacare votes regardless of the legality or morality.  From that point on, Senator Ben Nelson had a bulleyes on him from the GOP and, most importantly, the people of Nebraska.


Yesterday Senator Ben Nelson stated he was retiring from office.  He cowardly took a bribe (not in the traditional sense of the word, but a bribe nonetheless)  to secure his vote for Obamacare.  Of course, it only stands to reason he took the coward's way out to avoid defeat.  Reports were that many in the Democratic Party tried to talk Senator Nelson out of retiring.  Democrats are now putting on a brave front by trotting out an old liberal warhorse, former Senator Bob Kerrey, as a potential Democratic nominee.  Most likely, it is too little too late with the election less than a year away.  Democrats are fearful of losing the Senate to Republicans.  Ben Nelson was the latest domino to fall in that direction.  Senator Nelson was extremely vulnerable in his reelection bid.  But, he was by no means the only Democrat that is vulnerable.  Senators Joe Tester of Montana, and Claire McCaskil of Missouri are also in dog fights for reelection.  The one factor they all have in common that has them in trouble is their votes for Obamacare.  I hope President Obama is happy with his "signature" piece of legislation.  It is possible it will cost his party greatly.  But, you know what I find odd?  President Obama and the rest of the Socialists rarely, if ever, discuss Obamacare.  Wonder why that is?

Five Political Christmas Gifts

These are my Five Political Christmas gifts to America and, to a lesser extent, the world.  These are all for fun.  But, I sincerely hope they do come true eventually.

#5.  A viable third party in the U.S. political party system.  America is in dire need of a third political party.  The Republican and Democratic parties are consumed with getting reelected.  The American people they are suppose to represent are secondary to them.  Perhaps the Tea Party will eventually break away from the Republican Party after the 2012 elections.
#4.  Crack down on activist federal judges.  Instead of making rulings according to the U.S. Constitution, we see Appellate judges ruling from their own prejudices, rather than rule of law.  An example is a federal judge in Atlanta who stated the Alabama Immigration Enforcement Law would force illegal immigrants to flee the state.  How insane is that statement?
#3.  Political Partisanship comes to an end.  This is more in line with #5 above.  No, I don't see it ever happening in my lifetime with the Republican and Democratic parties as estranged as they are right now.  But, it would be nice if both parties would occasionally work together.
#2.  The resignation or retirement of Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid.  These two left-wing radicals are greatly responsible for the bitter political infighting between both parties in Washington D.C. today.  Both have their own Socialist agenda that they are trying to perpetrate upon a traditionally Democratic America.  Both are relentless Socialists who show no sign of backing down from their dream of a United Socialist States of America.
#1.  The defeat of President Barack Obama in 2012.  Obama was the president who was suppose to bring us together.  Due to his own partisanship, he has sown more animosity between the Right and Left than any other President in recent memory.  His single-minded approach to Obamacare, at the expense of working on jobs for Americans, is costing us dearly right now.  President Obama is a Socialist in the same mode as Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi.  His defeat in November of 2012 would be the greatest early 2012 Christmas gift I could ever imagine.

Those are my political Christmas gifts to America.  Will any be realized?  I can only pray that #1 happens.  It would save this nation from further turmoil and acrimony.  Merry Christmas!

Nancy Pelosi Making Another Absurd Claim

Just when you thought the lunacy of Nancy Pelosi could reach no further heights, she did it again yesterday.  I know this will sound familiar since she made the same stupid claim about Obamacare insofar as creation of thousands and thousands of jobs.  This time Nancy Pelosi is making the claim that extending unemployment benefits will create enough demand that 600K jobs will be created!  Pelosi stated this is based on information from "macroeconomic advisers."  I'm not real sure just what the hell a macroeconomic adviser is.  She didn't bother to name these macroeconomic advisers. She didn't say how much tax money would be needed to create these "600K" jobs either.  Do you get the feeling, as I do, that Left-wingers, such as Pelosi, just pull these magical numbers out of thin air?  It's either that or an intended manufactured Leftist distortion.  Oh, the hell with it....Pelosi is flat out lying!  Democrats have gotten lying down to a fine art these days with the Obama Administration leading with the rallying cry of a "transparent government."  

This claim reminds me a great deal of her #1 absurdity, "We have to pass the bill (Obamacare) so we can see what is inside it."  Remember that one?  These people are our elected officials.  These people, such as Pelosi, are leaders of political parties in this country.  They expect you to take their BS literally and don't question it.  So, when Nancy Pelosi makes another off the chart claim, such as unemployment benefits creating 600K jobs (without providing ANY data, of course), we are suppose to believe it.  Sorry, you Leftist whack jobs.  I have a mind of my own.  I don't have to be a macroeconomic advisor to know BS when I see it, read it or even smell it.  This latest claim by Nancy Pelosi is just more of the same from the laughingstock of American politics.

Judge Kagan to Recuse on Obamacare?

A story that is circulating and causing much anger amongst conservatives (and for totally opposite reasons, liberals as well) Supreme Court Justice Elena Kagan sent an excited email to a Harvard Law professor stating that "they have the votes" for Obamacare.  Justice Kagan sent a series of emails discussing the passage of Obamacare aka Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act in March of 2010.  “I hear they have the votes, Larry!! Simply amazing,” Kagan said to Tribe in one of the emails.  "Larry" is Harvard Law professor Larry Tribe.  Kagan served as Solicitor General for President Obama prior to being nominated and confirmed as Supreme Court Justice.  The concern, of course, did Kagan help write the defense of Obamacare?  If so, she must recuse herself.

8 USC 455, a Supreme Court justice must recuse from “any proceeding in which his impartiality might reasonably be questioned.”  If as Solicitor General, Justice Kagan helped draft a defense of Obamacare, she must recuse herself from deliberations on this lawsuit.  Of course, the above Harvard Law professor is defending Kagan.  He is stating Kagan should not have to recuse herself even in face of evidence she cannot be impartial.  This also flies in the face of her questioning before Senate Republicans during the confirmation process.  She stated emphatically she could be impartial in deliberations on the lawsuits against Obamacare.  Now, liberal groups are stating that Clarence Thomas should recuse himself as well.  The rationale for that is that Justice Thomas's wife has been quite vocal in her opposition to Obamacare.  Last time I checked, a Supreme Court Justice is not confirmed for a seat on the US Supreme Court based on the opinion of their spouse.  If we go this route, every married justice serving would have recuse him or herself because of what their spouse might say or think.  Of course, this is ridiculous.  Justice Kagan, however, must recuse herself based on the emails.  She cannot be impartial,.
