Washington Navy Yard Shooting
To begin with, I join most Americans in sending my sincere condolences to the families of the twelve victims who were killed by a madman. The shooter (who I refuse to even name) had mental problems, true enough. Once again, the mental aspect of the shooter is being called into question. The mental health community failed in the Newtown mass murder and again at the Naval Yard shooting. Both shooters had received countless hours of therapy. Yet, it could not prevent the deaths of 26 people in Newtown and 12 in Washington. Once again, the gun control zealots have pounced on another mass shooting in order to push their agenda.
It seems no one is willing to call out the likes of Senator Dianne Feinstein for her callous disregard for calling for gun control on the same day of the shooting and murder of 12 people. She was just one of several who were calling for more action on gun control on a day when that subject should be, at the very least, on the back burner for the present time. Give people time to grieve, at least for a couple of days, before pushing your political agenda in the lapdog news media.
While the Washington Naval Yard shooting is tragic and disgusting, it should in no way be a reason to abridge the 2nd Amendment. That is the usual motive of the gun control proponents. Their apparent motive is to take guns away from the vast majority of law abiding gun owners. I continue to think about these victims at the Washington Naval Yard shooting and others like it. What if these victims had been armed at the Naval Yard? How many would be alive today if they would have had the means to defend and protect themselves? What if the principal at Newtown Elementary had been armed and trained to fire a handgun? How many of those children would be alive today? Instead, this current tragedy in Washington will continue the myth that gun control will take guns out of the hands of criminals or the mentally disturbed. Instead, more senseless killings will take place like Newtown and the Washington Naval Yard because of gun control laws which inhibit the right of people to be armed. They will not be able to defend themselves if a madman goes off again in the future.. There will be more mass killings such as what happened in Washington. There will be more because potential shooters will know their chances of success in kill ratio will be high due to their potential victims being unarmed. Try getting a gun control zealot to understand that simple fact. Good luck.

All political views are welcome. That includes the liberal viewpoint as well. Civil discussion is preferred and encouraged. You can disagree without being disagreeable.
