Chris Christie: A Man Without A Party
Chris Christie, alleged Republican Governor of New Jersey, does his best to prove he is not a Republican, seemingly, each week. He has amply demonstrated he is not a conservative. In fact, I can't say with any authority he is even the much despised "establishment Republican" that conservatives love to berate. Christie openly campaigned for taxpayer money for Hurricane Sandy. Now, you ask, who could be against that? No one, not me, not anyone. I know what it's like to experience the devastation of a hurricane.
What I did not expect was the fawning over President Obama to get the funds. Who can ever forget the "bear hug" he gave the President on the tarmac just before the November election for President? Many conservatives say this swung a lot of independents to President Obama. I felt Romney was not going to win anyway. It certainly would have been much closer if not for the assistance of this RINO from New Jersey. But, it would be foolish to say this cost the Republicans the White House. Romney had enough missteps to lose two elections. Why not go after Obama on Benghazi? He was vulnerable there. Anyway...back to Chris Christie...
This month Christie has signed 10 out of 13 gun bills into law. Most were not controversial. He stated most were done to keep guns out of the hands of terrorists? Really governor? You can no more keep guns out of the hands of terrorists than you can your garden variety criminals in New Jersey. This week, Christie decided that homosexuality is not a sin and is inborn. He signed into law a bill banning therapy that tries to change a minor’s sexual orientation. It seems that parents should have the right to do as they wish to help their children. If a parent is a devil worshiper, the government will stay out of their lives. But, if a parent wants therapy for a child that is exhibiting homosexual tendencies, then the government will intervene. In this case, Chris Christie has intervened after being opposed to gay marriage for so long. It's apparent his moves are in line for a run at the White House as the GOP nominee. I put him in the same category as former New York major, Rudy Giuliani. Giuliani also ran for the Republican nomination in 2008. He had the same drawbacks as Christie when it comes to social issues. Christie is going to have not only the Evangelicals in the GOP coming after him, but the Republican dominated NRA also. I see no way Christie can win the GOP nomination. But, I also thought there was no way John "Amnesty" McClain could win the nomination in 2008. So, we'll just have to wait and see if Christie has any strength outside the northeast. I suspect he will find how weak he truly is in the Midwest and the South.
